October 18, 2008 - Leave a Response

Dear Customers,

First and foremost, we’d like to thank you for your support of bOK Systems. It has been a fun ride while it’s lasted. Unfortunately, due to extreme competition from much larger players, we’re forced to shut down our services as of Oct. 31st, 2008. If you are a current customer and would like a refund for any outstanding bOK credits that you have purchased, please do email us at: info@bOKnow.com.

On the bright side of things, all bOK Systems technology and personnel is being transferred to Chide.it Inc. Chide.it is a new company started by the founders of bOK. Chide.it is a big believer in internet software and the eventual transition of all desktop software to web software. The bOK team hopes to serve you all at Chide.it :)

Best Regards,

bOK Systems Team.

bOK transitions to paid service: Jan 28th, 2008

January 23, 2008 - Leave a Response

Fellow bOKers,

As mentioned in a previous post, bOK is now transitioning to a paid service model.

What was the original model?

  • We offered free calls to destinations in North America.
  • We charged for calls made to international destination (i.e. Europe, Asia, …).

What is the New Model?

  • Nothing will change for international calls.
  • North American calls will no longer be free. We will charge on a per minute basis for all calls. Rates will be shown on the bOK rates page.

When will the Transition be Made?

  • The transition will be made on Monday January 28th, 2008.

Will I be charged if I try to make a North American call?

  • If you currently have no money in your bOK account, your call simply won’t go through.
  • If you do have enough money in your bOK account, then your call will go through and you will be charged on a per minute basis.

Why should I use bOK if it is paid service?

  • bOK allows you to call international destinations at local rates. You can save a lot of money by using bOK to call international locations.
  • For North American calls, if you live in Canada, you can still benefit greatly by paying for bOK:
If you call a long distance number on your cell phone, you will typically be charged 35 cents a minute. Using bOK, you can make the same call for about 3 cents a minute. In other words, you get 10x the cost savings.
  • Furthermore, if you have unlimited incoming calls, you can extend the number of daytime minutes you have by using bOK. If you have 100 daytime outgoing minutes in a given month, and if you ever exceed those 100 minutes, then, your phone company will charge you up to 40 cents a minute. With bOK, you will never use your minutes (because every call with bOK is an incoming call). In essence, using bOK is like adding minutes to your current phone plan for more than 10x price savings.

More Questions?

  • If you have any more questions, please feel free to send us an email: info@bOKnow.com

Fellow bOKers,

Good News. Amin Mirzaee (Chief Technology Officer – bOK Systems) was recently interviewed by CBC Television & Radio on bOK’s innovative Cell Phone Service. This is great publicity for bOK and we hope that it will help spread the word. We will post the link to the interview as soon as it does become available on the web.

bOK is transitioning to a paid model…

November 6, 2007 - One Response

Fellow bOKers,

We all hope that in the past couple of months you have enjoyed using bOK to make free phone calls to North American destinations. After polling a large number of users, we realized that the most important things for everyone were reliability and good quality. We also drew the conclusion that we couldn’t offer the best service to our customer base for free. Up until now, we have been able to sponsor free calls by subscribing for cheap (and hence sometimes low quality) lines. We are changing our strategy and model going forward…

We will be soon announcing a date, after which, bOK will be a pay only service. Details of the type of services that we are offering will be revealed as we go forward. We will say though, that paying customers will get access to very high quality and reliable lines.

If you do have any questions, please feel free to send us an email: info ( @ ) boknow.com

bOK is 1st Result in Google!!!

November 4, 2007 - Leave a Response

Fellow bOKers,

Over the past little while, our service has been expanding rapidly and at times it has been difficult keeping up with all the traffic. There are, of course, many plus sides to this traffic…

Now, when you search for “bOK” on Google, boknow.com appears as the first link in the results. This is a great improvement and will help people who’ve heard about bOK and want to find the website through a search engine…

Keep bOKing!

Fellow bOKers,

We at bOK are somewhat astonished. We were just checking out our stats the other day and we realized that in under 3 months over 300,000 minutes have been used on our system. That’s insane, in a good way of course! Keep Talking! and please tell all your friends about our service!!!

Remember, calls to North America are Free and International Calls are RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP!!!

 Best Regards,

bOK Team.

bOK is Better than Phone Cards!!!

Throw Away Phone Cards. Use bOK! http://www.bOKnow.com

Use bOK for both Long Distance & International Calls!

We’ve realized that there are still people out there that have not switched to bOK and still use phone cards.

Here is what we want you to do:

1) Take your phone card out.

2) Rip it up.

3) Never buy another phone card again.

Phone Cards are inconvenient:

1) You have to go all the way to the store to buy a new one when you run out.

2) You have to dial the phone card number, then an access code, and then the phone number you want to dial… this involves too much hassle.

3) You have to carry the phone card with you all the time…
-

So, throw away your phone card and use bOK instead!

Let’s say you wanted to call your friend in France,

1) Compose a text message that contains your friend’s phone# in France.

2) Send this text message to bOK (613.614.0285)

3) Your phone will ring. Your Friends phone will ring in France. When you pick up, you can talk to your friend in France.

This is great!

a) This is a local call for both you and your friend.

b) This is an incoming call.

c) You get the same cheap rates as phone cards, and sometimes even better rates.

d) All you need is your cell phone. Forget about carrying around a phone card.
-

bOK is by far the best solution for Long Distance & International calls.

So, what should you do now?

a) sign up for bOK here.

b) add money to your account when you log in.

c) start making international cards.

d) say goodbye to phone cards forever!

Hope you enjoy this!

bOK Team.

Add the bOK# to your addressbook…

August 24, 2007 - Leave a Response

Fellow bOKers,

We were surprised the other day to learn that some bOK users still haven’t added the bOK phone number to their address book. We assure you that adding our number to your address book will make your lives a whole lot easier…

bOKnow Cell Phone

So, here is what you do…

1) Create a new entry in your cell phone’s address book.

2) Enter the name of the entry as “bOK“.

3) Enter the phone number as “16136140285″.

This way, every time you’d like to send a text message to the bOK number, you can just choose it from your address book rather than having to type it in all the time. We hope that this encourages you to bOK more often :)

have fun,

the bOK team.
